The bird was wedged sideways in Possum’s mouth. The cat’s fur was fluffy at the back like a tulle skirt. His green eyes blinked at Rachel through the French doors.

At first, she didn’t realise it was still alive.

Should you write what you want, or write what you should?

A piece in October’s Writing Magazine

‘But the point is, KILLING DANIEL is the novel I wanted to write. I might have preferred to write it in ten years’ time,

perhaps when my writing could fit the novel more, but the effort that went into it was massive. Seemingly unending. The book didn’t fit in with many publisher’s lists and preferences. But it fit, finally, with Unthank.”

A piece of fiction about the things we look towards and away from. You can read it in Six Minute Magazine this fall (that’s what the Americans say) 🙂

Drifting,  Softening, Gone

This piece of micro-fiction was worked on here and is me trying something new/other than my usual wordiness.
